WHO THE PROJECT IS FOR?

We are appealing to both the entire music departments and individual students. For this Dorset project, we already have 3 schools signed up to make it their Spring ’24 choir project - more can be added, but maybe your school doesn’t feel able to make such a commitment. Please still contact me and we can see how we can get you on board. The same goes for both instrumentalists and singers.

This project is aimed at advanced instrumental students, it will give you a clear picture of what life is like in a professional orchestra. If you are over grade 6 on your instrument - contact us. We are creating a symphony orchestra which means that (for wind and brass) players we only have one position per instrument. We have more places for string players, but don’t be shy - put yourself forward as soon as possible in order to have the best chance of being in our orchestra.

This is a rare opportunity in our rural community, to sit next to a professional of your chosen instrument, to work under the baton of a master conductor, and to accompany world-class singers. Even if you don’t want to make this your career, this is still a learning moment for you. Being a member of an orchestra or a choir is about being in a team; one with the same end goal.

Normally in school situations, if you face another school it is competitive. Here you will meet people you haven’t met before, and be asked to work together to create something bigger than you alone. Within minutes you will be playing some of the most exquisite music you will ever have heard!
